Get your mom sanity back and claim self-care so you can be the best imperfect version of yourself!
What are the benefits of self-care?
Self-care benefits us in so many ways. It tends to affect us the most mentally and physically causing us to stress out. This is why it is so important to add regular self-care to keep a healthy relationship with ourselves.
Here is a list of self-care ideas you can do when you need reclaim balance:
Play some feel good music
Nothing is more fun and relaxing than playing your favorite songs and dancing around the house.
Meet Up with a Friend
Sometimes we go months without seeing our good friends. Carve out some time in your schedule and catch a movie or dinner together. You will have a great time catching up.
Call a Friend or Family Member
It’s always a wonderful feeling when you catch up with a friend or relative you haven’t talked to in a while. Sometimes the conversations you have are just what you need.
Take A Nap
Sometimes all you need is just a nap to rejuvenate from long weeks and days.
Go get a mani and pedi
Pamper yourself. Better yet try a color you normally wouldn’t get.
Say you can’t make it
Cut out an activity and relax. Sometimes we just have to say No and stop over-committing ourselves.
Take a Bubble Bath
Baths are so amazing. I try to take one on Sundays but it doesn’t always work out that way. An amazing bubble bath I use is here.
Pursue Hobbies
Pick a hobby and go for it. You deserve to do something you enjoy.
Read a good book
I definitely encourage you to read a leisure book. I am currently reading Atomic Habits.
Simplify Your beauty routine
Simplifying your routine works wonders. I had a 45-minute makeup routine I have now gotten it down to about 15 minutes. It includes mascara, eyeliner, eyebrows, and foundation.
Nothing beats taking a nice long hot shower. According to my hubby mine are already too long. LOL
Sleep in
Rest, Rest, Rest. What mom couldn’t use a day to sleep in.
Take an online class or course
You should always invest in yourself. A great place to find affordable courses is on Udemy. Another good thing about Udemy is they always have sales.
Delegate some of your tasks to others
This is one of the best things you can do for yourself. I currently use Instacart and have a cleaning lady and love it.
Take a personal day and use it just for yourself
Don’t feel guilty and taking a day off from work and just treating yourself. You deserve it and it is relaxing to go at your own pace.
Buy a magazine and read it in bed (in your PJ’s)
I love cooking magazines. I just lay in bed and drool over the gorgeous photos.
Make an ice cream sundae with your favorite toppings
My favorite. Just eat the ice cream! Just not regularly. LOL
Turn off your cell phone for a day
This is a hard one. If you can’t do a day do half a day. I stayed off of social media for a day and I got so much done. Try it and let me know how you felt.
Only look at the top 3 items on your to-do list at one time to avoid feeling overwhelmed
I am so guilty of this. I will create a list knowing I should just put my top three on it. It never fails I put everything I need to do and I get anxiety and panic trying to figure how to get everything done. Try your best to put down one task for personal, business, and family every day so you can feel some type of accomplishment daily.
Stop thinking negatively (or talking about yourself negatively)
Tell the negative thoughts in your head to go away. You are doing a great job! Keep it up!
Ask for help
Ask grandparents, friends, or neighbors for help. Sometimes a little help can go a long way. I know it is hard to not do it all but if we don’t stop it we are going to drive ourselves insane. You and I both know you can’t pour from an empty cup so we have to find balance and getting help is one way.
Binge watch one of your favorite shows
My husband and I binge watched Power on Netflix. It was so funny especially fast-forwarding through the commercials. LOL
Do absolutely nothing
Yep! I said it. DO. ABSOLUTELY. NOTHING. It is one of the most amazing feelings to just sit around and be lazy. I mean running after the kids all the time we deserve a lazy day every now and then.
Drink a warm drink
Nothing beats a delicious warm drink to soothe you. I love the medicine ball drink you can get it at Starbucks.
Light a scented candle
Nothing beats lighting a few candles and changing the ambiance in your house to a calm mood. Check out one of my favorite candles here.
Write a list of things you’ve accomplished and look at it when you’re feeling discouraged
This is so important. Sometimes you don’t realize how much you have accomplished until you take a second to look back and write down everything.
Schedule at least 10 minutes of “me” time daily
Take a few minutes when you get home from work just to catch your breath.
Try a new recipe
This is a favorite. I love trying new recipes. I have made several recipes in the cookbooks below and they were all amazing.
There are so many things to be grateful for. Take a few minutes and write them down it will surely make you feel good.
Go out for lunch with a friend
Catch up with a friend during your lunch hour. It’s always good times when you link up with your long-time friends.

We take care of everyone else, but we need to start thinking about our self-care a bit more. So make sure you make sure to schedule “me time” in your planner.
