Air Fryer Cheeseburger Egg Rolls
What Are Air Fryer Cheeseburger Egg Rolls?
Air fryer cheeseburger egg rolls are exactly what they sound like – they’re a tasty combination of two beloved dishes, with a gooey filling tucked inside a delicious egg roll wrapper.
Why I Love Them
I love these egg rolls for a couple reasons. Number one, they taste amazing, and I am a fan of anything that tastes amazing. Number two, they are so easy to make.
Egg rolls can be intimidating, but I promise they’re simple when you have the right tips – and I’ll tell you how to roll and egg roll later.
I also love these egg rolls because they’re the perfect recipe when I need something unique.
I love to take these to friends’ houses when I’m asked to bring an appetizer, and I love to make them when I am entertaining guests myself.
No matter the occasion, these egg rolls are a hit.
Air Fryer Cheeseburger Egg Roll Ingredients
Here are the main ingredients you’ll need to make my air fryer cheeseburger egg rolls:
-
Ground turkey – As we know, cheeseburgers are infamous for being greasy, but by using ground turkey and making these egg rolls in the air fryer, you eliminate so much of that grease. And when you eat less grease, you’ll feel a little lighter, giving you room to sneak a couple more. Win win!
-
Shredded cheese – Using shredded cheese will make it easier for the cheese to incorporate into the meat mixture. You can buy your own shredded cheese from the grocery store, or grate your own from a block. If you do grate it yourself, make sure you use a thicker grater. I suggest using cheddar cheese or American cheese slices for that classic cheeseburger flavor.
-
Sweet relish – Don’t skip on the sweet relish. This is going to add major flavor and really incorporate that classic cheeseburger taste that we’re going for.
-
Egg roll wrappers – Make sure you buy egg roll wrappers and not wonton wrappers. While they are very similar and are made from the same dough, egg roll wrappers are much larger, and this recipe was made to accommodate egg roll wrappers. Also be sure to not buy spring roll wrappers, as those are entirely different and will not work. If you can’t find egg roll wrappers at your local grocery store, you can purchase them online.
How to make Air-Fryer Cheeseburger Egg Rolls
Add olive oil to a large skillet and heat over medium-high heat. Add the diced onions and saute for two minutes.
Add the ground turkey to a large skillet over medium heat, crumbling the ground turkey as it cooks.
Add the Worcestershire sauce, seasoned salt, onion powder, and garlic powder and stir to coat the meat over low heat.
Add the sweet pickle relish then the shredded cheese to the meat mixture. Stir to combine. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
Spoon around 1/4 cup of the cheeseburger filling into the egg roll wrappers. Put one corner facing towards you. Rub a dap of water on all four sides. Fold the side up then fold in the left and right corner, then roll up tightly towards the top corner.Repeat with the remaining egg rolls.
Coat air fryer basket or wire rack of air fryer with cooking spray
Place egg rolls in an air fryer basket in an even layer leaving space for air to flow between each egg roll. You will likely need to work in 2 batches, depending on the size of your air fryer.
Spray cooking spray on all sides of egg rolls.
Place egg rolls seam side down in basket or rack in a single layer.
Cook for 6 minutes, turn and cook another 6 minutes until crisp.
Serve hot with dipping sauce.
To make the dipping sauce:
This amazing dipping sauce is made out of mayonnaise, French dressing, and ketchup. All standard options can be used.
Whisk together all of the ingredients for the sauce to combine.
Cheeseburger Egg Rolls Recipe Tips
Use these tips to get the best air fryer egg rolls:
-
Make sure your meat is thoroughly cooked, as the egg rolls won’t be in the air fryer for long.
-
If you don’t have an air fryer, you can make this recipe in a countertop convection oven, as well.
How to Roll Egg Rolls
Like I said, rolling egg rolls can be intimidating, but it’s easy when you have the right tips.
-
First, make sure you have the correct rolls. Remember – use egg roll wrappers not wonton or spring roll wrappers.
-
Next, adequately fill your egg rolls. Do not overfill. Use an amount that does not cause your roll to bust open. You want to be able to see plenty of the edges when you are rolling.
-
To roll your egg roll properly, face the corner of the egg roll wrapper toward your stomach in a diamond shape. Fold the corner that’s facing you over the filling, then fold the left corner and right corner sides over, and roll. If you are worried about the edges coming loose, take a little water or some of your leftover cornstarch slurry and use it to seal the edges.
How to Reheat Egg Rolls
Reheating egg rolls is easy. To reheat them, you can put them in the microwave, or you can just pop them back in the air fryer for a couple of minutes on low heat.
This is my favorite option, as it will heat them up thoroughly while still maintaining their crispy texture.
How to Store Egg Rolls
Egg rolls will last in the refrigerator for a couple of days, but they can last frozen before being cooked for months as long as they are properly stored.
Store your egg rolls in an airtight container in both the refrigerator and the freezer. Label and date them before placing them in the freezer.
What to Serve With Air Fryer Cheeseburger Egg Rolls
Egg rolls can be served with a variety of different entrées and sides. Here are some of my favorites:
-
Salad – A salad is a delicious, healthy option to serve right alongside your egg rolls that will really make it feel like you’re eating at a restaurant.
-
French Fries – Make it American and serve some fries with your cheeseburger egg rolls. It’s another way to utilize your homemade dipping sauce, too!
-
Other egg rolls – Go ahead and make an egg roll bar! Serve traditional egg rolls, your cheeseburger option, and maybe even a couple of other unique ones like buffalo chicken or Southwestern. This is especially great if you are entertaining.
I love this easy egg roll recipe, and I know that you will, too!
What type of Air Fryer was used for this recipe?
I used my NuWave Brio 14-qt. Digital Air Fryer Oven. I like how it has a lot of space and it heats up super fast.
