Ingredients for Cajun Salmon Bites Recipe

  • 1 pound of a piece of fresh salmon, bite size pieces
  • 1 tablespoon avocado oil
  • 2 teaspoon Cajun seasoning

Ingredients Notes

  • Salmon: For a quicker prep time, I recommend getting skinless salmon fillets so you will not have to work on removing the skin before cutting it into bite-size salmon pieces.
  • Avocado oil: The light, nutty taste and aroma of avocado oil pairs best with bold Cajun flavors.
  • Seasoning: Store-bought Cajun seasoning mix is very easy to find and affordable, too! But you can also make a homemade blend if you want more control over the spice level, salt level, and overall flavor. I used my homemade low sodium cajun seasoning blend.

How to Make the Best Cajun Salmon Bites

Step 1: Using a sharp knife, cut the skinless salmon fillets into 1 ½ inch cubes, then pat them dry with a paper towel to remove any excess moisture.

Step 2: Place the salmon pieces in a large bowl, then pour in the avocado oil and toss until each piece is evenly coated.

Step 3: Add the Cajun seasoning and toss the salmon until each piece is well-coated.

Step 4: Line the air fryer basket with parchment paper or coat it with oil. Let the salmon cook in the air fryer at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for about 12 minutes.

Recipe Tips and Tricks

  • Should you preheat the air fryer or not? Preheating the air fryer is unnecessary for this recipe, especially with skinless salmon filets. The fish is cut into bite-sized pieces and should cook well without preheating your air fryer.
  • Tossing the salmon pieces in oil first makes it easier to coat them evenly in the seasoning.
  • Don’t overcrowd the air fryer. Place the salmon in a single layer and leave some space between each piece to cook them evenly.
  • Using a parchment sheet is the best way to make cleanup easier. However, you can skip the parchment paper to make less waste when cooking, but use a cooking spray or brush the air fryer basket with oil so the salmon cubes won’t stick.

What to Serve With Air Fryer Salmon Bites Recipe

  • Serve with salad on the side. Any simple healthy salad tossed in a zesty vinaigrette, like my Kale Salad with Strawberry and Almonds recipe, turns this dish into a delicious meal for lunch or dinner.
  • Make a delicious crispy salmon bites rice bowl. The bold flavors of Cajun seasoning pair well with plain, fluffy rice in a small bowl. But if you want a more flavorful feast, give this Vegan Dirty Rice recipe a try! If you’re on a low-carb diet, switch the white rice with cauliflower rice.
  • Pair it with roasted or air-fried veggies. Do you have some leftover vegetables in the fridge? This Cajun salmon bites recipe is the perfect match for them!

Recipe Variations

You can use other healthy cooking oils that are more affordable than avocado oil. Olive oil would be a great alternative.

Infuse other flavors into the salmon nuggets by adding spices like garlic powder and onion powder. You can add some black pepper or brown sugar.

Level up the heat for this dish by adding a few dashes of cayenne pepper. A bit of citrus flavor also goes well with Cajun spices, so you can also top it with lime juice when it’s time to serve.

Are you in the mood to be extra creative in the kitchen? You can fuse these Cajun salmon bites with other tasty salmon and Cajun recipes for a meal bursting with flavors!

Serve it alongside a Bang Bang sauce or drizzle it with Cajun honey butter sauce.

Storage and Reheating Tips

In the small chance that you have some leftovers, don’t worry! This salmon bites air fryer recipe can be easily stored and reheated.

Store any leftovers in an airtight container and keep it refrigerated. Make sure to consume it within 3 days.

When it’s time to serve it again, you can simply reheat these delicious salmon bites in the microwave for a few minutes. Check if all the salmon pieces are warmed through before serving.
